Exciting Duke of Edinburgh Award News

Posted: Thursday 16th June 2016

On the 16th and 17th June, our current D of E group completed their final walking expedition. Our assessor Jan, was extremely pleased with how well the group worked as a team. They showed all the qualities we are looking for in our young people; determination, independence and a caring attitude.

Throughout the expedition, they were able to problem solve some tricky situations, although when it came to using the tin opener, this was one of the skills which they found a little too difficult to solve on their own.

Congratulations to ‘Team Great Nature’ (Owen, Harvey, Grace and Raymond) and ‘Team Dolphin’ (Emma, Rebecca, Jake, George and Cameron) who completed the expedition section of the award successfully.

On Sunday 19th June, 4 of the 8 students who completed their Bronze Award last year (2015), were presented with their Bronze Award certificates by Mr. Quentin Webb, Chair of West Berkshire Council at the D of E Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony.

Students also got to meet Mr James Puxley DL, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for The Royal County of Berkshire. Hearty congratulations go to Paige, Tierney, Emily and William who attended the ceremony, but also to Alonza, Lily, Tayla and Zoya who unfortunately couldn’t make it.

Well done to everyone!
