Forest School

Posted: Tuesday 10th November 2015

Early Years and Key Stage 1 children have been enjoying weekly visits to “Forest School”. We walk to Pikeshaw Copse nearby and spend time exploring and playing in the woodland. Activities follow the each child’s interests and could include climbing along a branch, hiding in a “den” or watching leaves as they are thrown into the air by an adult. The session ends with a snack and then we return to school. The impact on the children has been increased awareness of the natural environment, developing confidence in a different setting and having access to opportunities for investigation and problem solving.
